The Impact We Make Together
Food & Fund Drives place the power to make a meaningful difference directly in your hands. Anyone can host a Food & fund Drive. Any time. For any occasion. The impact is powerful.
The State Street Market Concept
The Mississippi Community Education Center (MCEC) State Street Market will serve as an equity-oriented approach to nutritional education and sustainable health and wellness of the local community. Lack of nutritional education is a problem that carries negative consequences throughout an individual’s entire life. Its lasting impact reaches from the developmental capabilities of children to the overall wellness of adults. Through curriculum based educational programs and the promise to serve nutritionally significant food, we will attempt to greatly reduce the prevalence of this issue in our underserved community. This is where you can help us.
Hosting a Food and Fund Drive
Now that you have decided to host a Food & Fund Drive for the Mississippi Community Education Center’s State Street Market, the following steps will provide you with all the information you will need to host a successful event.
Step 1: Let us know about your drive. Call us, email us, or set up a time to meet to discuss when you would like to plan the Food & Fund Drive. We will answer any questions you may have and provide the support you need to host a successful drive, including boxes or bags to collect items in.
Step 2: Decide what elements your event will include. Will you be collecting food, funds, or both?
Step 3: Get the word out. Make sure to use our printable most needed items list and flyers for social media and website. Please note that if you would like to add your logo to any of the materials we create, be sure to send the information and logo to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Step 4: Host your drive.
Step 5: Now it’s time to get your donations to MCEC’s State Street Market at 750 North State Street. You can drop off or we can pick up Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Some Creative Ideas

Host a happy hour, were donations are welcome
Food challenge: create a friendly competition between departments, classrooms, or floors.
Themed drives: gather themed donations (back-to-school lunch box items, thanksgiving family feasts, or meat the needs canned meats and soups).
