The Mississippi Community Education Center (MCEC) through its partnership with New Summit School and New Learning Resources, Inc. offers technical assistance in implementing an accredited high school diploma program adaptable to your organization's needs. This program is accredited by the Mississippi Department of Education and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. This program is also recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor's Job Corps Division.
MCEC's main office in Jackson, Mississippi, partners with a non-traditional full-day school, New Summit School, focusing on individual student needs K-12. While NSS is designed similar to traditional schools, emphasis is placed on keeping instructional groups small and teaching to the individual. Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning (REAL)
REAL (Rural Entrepreneurship Through Action Learning) is an experiential (hands-on) class which develops entrepreneurial knowledge, skills and attitudes, and guides students through the process of choosing, planning and operating a small business of their own design. Students in the REAL class learn about self-employment through reading, research, and classroom activities and through experience with real people, real money, and real business.
