Childhood Obesity

The Mississippi Community Education Center is designed to provide communities with educational trainings and programs state wide. MCEC has partnered with other sponsors to become advocates for the fight against childhood obesity. Currently, only one organization is attempting to address the problem of childhood obesity in the state, The Mississippi Community Education Center with the You’ve Gotta Move Project.

You've Gotta Move is a skillfully integrated exercise/dance program  on DVD,age-specifically designed for children to be used in the classroom as part of their day-to-day schedule.  The DVD will support and encourage teachers to incorporate appropriate physical movement into their learning environment and lesson plans.

The DVD will feature Catherine Carter, a young singer and well-known advocate in the fight against childhood obesity, and a group of school-aged children who Catherine will guide through the program.  These enjoyable exercises are set to fun and upbeat music to get kids’ hearts pumping and their bodies moving.
